Shirley Stanford

Opelousas- Visitation for Shirley Joseph Stanford will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Shirley Joseph Stanford was born in Opelousas, LA, on October 30, 1939.  He passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 2, 2020, at the age of 80.

Shirley retired as a truck driver with Dixie Glass for many years. Shirley enjoyed riding his horses; as well as, spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed crawfishing, welding, and doing mechanic work in his spare time. He was a former member of the Shady Oak Riding Club and the Cajun Mardi Gras Association. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Shirley is survived by his son, Dave Stanford and wife, Dawn Laviolette Stanford of Prairie Ronde; daughter, Christy Stanford Enriquez and husband, Abraham Enriquez of Church Point; brother, Elrick Stanford of Prairie Ronde; and a sister, Ruth Chapman and husband, Robley Chapman of Ville Platte; ten grandchildren, Juan Carlos Enriquez, Conner Joubert, Magda Enriquez, Jean Paul Joubert Jr., Shalynn Laviolette, Dave Lance Stanford, Jr., David Laviolette, Caroline Stanford, Abraham Landon Enriquez, and Alejandro Enriquez; and six great-grandchildren, Juan Carlos Enriquez Jr., Perla Enriquez, Carlos Sanchez, Hunter Jude Nezat, Jesus Sanchez, and Roberto Hernandez.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Bonnie Stanford; his parents, Vorice Stanford and Elina Thibodeaux Stanford; and brother, Aaron Stanford.
