Palmetto - A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Morain will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Palmetto. Father Stephen Ugwu will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services in the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Raymond Morain, age 91, on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Raymond was a mechanic for many years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors while fishing and camping. On a quiet day at home, you could find him cooking in his outdoor kitchen. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by wife of 71 years, Viola Dupuis Morain of Palmetto; his son, Bennett W. Morain and wife, Mary, of Palmetto; his daughter, Darlene Morain Leger and husband, Troy, of Palmetto; his step-sister, Tressie Fontenot and husband, Milburn, of Washington; his 4 grandchildren, Bridget Cutchall Stagg, Troy Leger, Jr., Brandon Morain and David Leger; his 11 great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Gracie, Stephanie, Luke, Sydney, Jacob, Emily, Brandalyn, Brennon, Emerson and Genevieve; and his step great-grandchild, Brock.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregiver, Joyce Goudeau for her wonderful care.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney J. Morain; mother, Ophelia Fruge; his daughter, Linda Morain Cutchall; and brother, Romain "R.J." Morain.
Pallbearers will be Troy Leger, Sr., Troy Leger, Jr., Brandon Morain, David Leger, Kevin Macip and Jason Hutchins. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Luke, Jacob, Brennon and Emerson.
