Michelle Soileau

December 13, 1966 — March 31, 2021

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Michelle Romero Soileau will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass.

Ms. Soileau, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, TX.    Michelle was the life of the party.  She never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew her.  Her smile was contagious and was such a strong-willed woman.  Her greatest joy in life was raising her little man, Noah.  Noah referred to her as "Daddie."  She was a dedicated employee at Bodemuller the Printer in Opelousas for 31 years where she worked as a press operator.  When diagnosed with cancer on December 11, 2020, she faced it with a strong will to live and was adamant of getting the best treatment possible.  Never once saying, "Why Me?" She will leave a huge hole in so many hearts and will be missed by all.  She was an avid hunter and outdoors woman, enjoyed riding her four-wheeler, spending time at the camp with her hunting buddies, her family, and special cousins and friends.

She is survived by her great-nephew who she raised like her son, Noah James Kennerson of Ville Platte; brother, Shannon D. Romero and wife, Dawn of Naples, FL; sister, Carol Ann R. Bourque and husband, Paul of Opelousas; nieces,  Keisha Daigle and Morgan Seibel and husband, Cole; great-niece, Marina Grace Seibel; and great-nephews: Drake Daigle and Carter Daigle; one step nephew, Maeson Theriot;  longtime friend, Sonia Guillory; her angels on Earth who brought and stayed with her during her treatments, Shari Goutierrez and Aimee Vidrine; her special cousins who were like a brother and sister to her, Tony and Corona Romero.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Carroll Romero and Laura Richard Romero; grandparents, Hypolite Richard and Editha Viator Richard; and Whitney Romero and Etta Broussard Romero; significant other, Jamie Melancon; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home led by Marty Goutierrez.
