Belle Carroll Tweedel

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Belle Carroll Tweedel at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and internment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - until 11:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. in church prior to mass.

The family requests all visitors please wear a mask while attending the funeral services in the funeral home and for the Mass in church.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Belle Carroll Tweedel, age 97, on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

Belle worked in the administrative office at Roy Motors Chevrolet in Opelousas and Woodfin-Smith Pontiac in Baton Rouge for many years.

She was very devoted to her Catholic religion and prayed her rosary every day.  She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister where she served at church, Doctor's Hospital and Senior Village Nursing Home.  She belonged to three rosary groups and was awarded the "Devoted Service Award" by the Diocese of Lafayette on May 7, 2000.  Most of all, Belle was a loving person and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Belle is survived by sons, Ronald W. Tweedel & wife, Linda of Covington, LA; and Donald R. Tweedel and wife, Noel, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her husband, Merrick Joseph Tweedel; her parents, Thomas Robinson Carroll, Sr., and Annie Lavergne Carroll; her brothers, Herman Carroll, Ray Carroll, Tom Carroll, Jr., Bill Carroll, and Homer Carroll; and her sister, Ola Carroll Hidalgo.

Pallbearers will be Al Carroll, Brett Tweedel, Chase Woessner, Kennedy Tonkin, Alexis Edwards, and Madisyn Tonkin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rayne Tonkin, Skylar Tonkin, and Kolbie Woessner.
