Krotz Springs – A Mass of Christian Burial for Hattie Ophelia Valin, age 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Father Mark Ledoux will conduct the services.

Mrs. Valin, a resident of Krotz Springs, died on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Opelousas General Health System.

Hattie is survived by her daughters, Norma Eve Valin LeBlanc of Krotz Springs, La.; Windolin Rosemary Valin Leger and husband, Gene, of Krotz Springs, La. and Susan Ann Valin Opry and her husband, Michael, of Opelousas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Mervin Valin; her parents, Samuel Bennett and Ida Doiron Bennett and four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Friday, July 23, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday, at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
