Funeral services for Wilfred “Choupique” Lalonde will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 11:00 am in the St. Landry Catholic Church. The interment will be in the St. Landry Catholic Cemetery. Father Jim Brady will conduct the services.

Mr. Lalonde, age 78 a resident of Opelousas died Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the Eunice Manor Nursing Home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He was also a farmer most of his life and enjoyed raising miniature horses, dogs and sheep.

Survivors include his daughters; Harriet Lalonde Leggett and husband Dr. Vern Leggett of Bossier City, Wilma Lalonde Ortego and husband Tommy of Port Barre and Barbara Lalonde Young and son in law Toby Young of Port Barre, special friend; Lee Anna Theriot of Opelousas, 7 grandchildren; Renee Marcantel Scallan and husband Jess of Opelousas, Barrett Ortego and wife Jessica of Cypress, TX, Dodi Young Ryder and husband Matthew of Port Barre, Tory Marcantel and wife Rebecca of Port Barre, Keisha Marcantel Mallet of Port Barre, Dana Ortego Stoute and husband Adam of Opelousas and Kylie Young Thibodeaux and husband Jason of Pecaniere and 10 great-grandchildren; Krystalin Stelly, Ava Mallet, Aedan Thibodeaux, Tucker Thibodeaux, Keaton Ryder, Alexa Marcantel, Sebastian Stoute, Scout Stoute, Peyton Ortego and Mariah Scallan.

He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Mae Credeur Lalonde, parents; Jean Batiste Simon “T-Sim” Lalonde and Anita Marie Ratelle Lalonde, father-in-law Wilfred “Bea” Credeur, mother-in-law; Anita Roy Credeur, a sister-in-law; Shirley Credeur Dupuis

The Pallbearers will be; Barrett Ortego, Tory Marcantel, Matthew Ryder, Jason Thibodeaux, Adam Stoute and Jess Scallan

Visitation will be observed on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. and will remain open all night until the time of service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
